Countertop Alternatives

“benefits of glass is the look is light-and-bright, airy – as with other surfaces, glass kitchen countertops can be custom-designed…without seams, with a contemporary finish, or used as an accent, such as a raised breakfast bar on an island.”

Contemporary Coastal, Nature-Inspired
Removing a wall standing between the two islands created an expansion of an existing kitchen. An eat in island, vertical cabinetry were practical additions to an underutilized family room.

Green living inspires many homeowners to bring organic elements of nature to their interior space. Reclaimed or recycled material repurposed into new functions, welcomes the sense of calm and peace nature shares and which cannot be duplicated. A hand-crafted Ambrosia Maple dining table warmed the bright hues of coastal living. With the sleek uncluttered design function of contemporary based themes, holding on to elements of natural wood hints of relaxed summer days.

Decorative school of fish pendants crafted by local artisan hang above islands illuminating after sun-set conversation. Windows and skylights altered invited natural sunlight as design and green conscious concepts. Whether you use windows or another source, sunlight can make any space come alive. Blending décor styles using furniture, color and fixtures is fashionable and refreshing. Mixing contemporary or modern with the laid-back feel of sandy water front cottages were design features used in this seaside escape~

Streamline Tile Floor in Bathroom

img_2107If you are searching for a more streamlined and contemporary look for your new bathroom tile floor, there is a solution. To get away from a threshold and copper insert, you can use a Laticrete product that is installed flush with the existing floor so that the tile is all on one level with a built-in pitch so the water can drain properly. It gives you a nice clean look without boxy thresholds to trip on.

Bathroom Renovation Ergonomics for Seniors

Over the last few years Nauset Kitchens has seen an increase in bathroom remodeling with the Cape’s senior demographic. Many of these folks are living longer and opting to staying in there homes instead of assisted living . There are a few critical design considerations that should not be overlooked . Instead of your standard 30″ deep shower , use 36″ to give you that extra depth to maneuver . Make sure the shower walls have enough blocking so that when your installing grab bars they are secure and at heights that are user friendly. Thresholds should be no more than 3″ to 4″ in height for ease of getting in and out of the shower. Also your vanity cabinetry should be made at kitchen cabinet height of 34.75″ . These few design concepts if implemented will make it much easier to navigate your bathroom , giving our seniors the pride and dignity they deserve.
